HexOhm V3.0 Review:
An American made, limited edition, and powerful box mod is going to rock the vaping world with its simple and screenless design. So without further ado, we will take a closer look at the HexOhm V3.0 by Craving Vapor ($199.99 from VaporDNA).
HexOhm V3.0 Design and Interface
The HexOhm V3.0 is a well-built, simple, fantastic looking box mod that is powered by two 18650 batteries. It’s a big improvement from its predecessor the HexOhm V2 with its maximum output of 180W, a master on and off switch for safety and improved battery bay with a strong magnetized door. The body is made from high-quality aluminum painted in powder coated finish. It has a dimension of 103mm by 51mm by 27mm and weighs around 225g, this device is quite heavy yet robust. It has a big HexOhm logo on the front side, the battery cover has a limited edition anarchist logo on it, and a big solid firing button on the front, which is very responsive and comfortable. Below its firing button, there’s a small potentiometer that lets you adjust the output power from 0 to 100W by 10 increments. There is also a unique serial number on each HexOhm V3.0 for warranty purposes in case you encounter any problem with your device. Keep in mind that this device comes with lifetime warranty, so this should come in handy in case of any flaws.
The 510 connection in this device comes with a spring loaded center pin which is compatible with any tanks we used, from 22mm to 25mm sub-ohm tanks, all are perfectly flush onto the device; no issue at all. Having to look at the mod, the battery bay is molded from ULTEM with spring loaded brass contact which can withstand higher temperature making it durable and safer to use. Its battery cover has a very strong and tighter grip making it rattle free and spill proof from your e-Juice. Another astonishing feature about the HexOhm V3.0 is its master switch that lets you turn on and off the firing button which is perfect for traveling or tossing it in your pocket without any worry of accidental firing.
HexOhm V3.0 Performance and Vapor Quality
Keep in mind that this is a mechanical mod – recommended for medium to advanced vapers only. You need to know the ohms and amps of your atomizer first before using this device because this might stress or wear out the proprietary chipset. Although this mod comes with reverse battery protection that will protect the chip, it is something you really need to take seriously or else it will be a big trouble. The proprietary chipset has a 30Amp max output and can be vape as low as 0.1 ohms at 45W or less, which is more than enough for most users.
Another fact about the HexOhm V3.0 is that there is no screen display to check the voltage or wattage, so you have to check it by taste using the potentiometer that can be gradually adjust using your fingernails or screwdriver. It’s fairly simple and straight forward, but at the same time, you don’t know what you are vaping at.
When it comes to overall performance, the HexOhm V3.0 really stands out above the rest. Vapor production is awesome and the battery life is great. Although, we have some issues when trying to open the battery cover, because of its powerful magnets. The performance and the size of the mod are remarkably impressive.
